Today was my last day working at the glass factory. Was supposed to be tomorrow, but we got everything done ahead of schedule, and there was no work left. The fun of my last day made up for that though. This guy had, lined up against his wall, a bookcase, a HUGE file cabinet, and a desk that took up half the room. He had his monitor on his desk, the back of it sitting in a big square hole he cut out of the back panel of the desk. Cables for the monitor, mouse and keyboard ran through this hole, and behind the ungodly large desk and the giant file cabinet. The computer was on top of the huge file cabinet. I pulled on the mouse cord, and it dragged the network cable with it. Down behind the bohemith desk. So there I am, (the owner of the huge desk thankfully gone for the day) with the door shut, and the shade on his door pulled down. I take off my shoes, and climb on the desk, so I could see where the cable fell. Behind the huge filing cabinet. It was about a foot taller than I am. (I know, that isn't saying much...) But still...I dragged it out of the way and rescued the cable. About 5 minutes later, one of the other guys I was working with came in to ask how I was doing. I told him what I did... (Minus the standing on the desk part) He says, "Fuck that! I would've just told him, the network cable's behind the desk, call me when it's fixed. How the hell did you MOVE this thing???"
But that wasn't the end of the horror. Because we were going in to where they manufacture the glass, we had to wear goggles, ear plugs, and our choice of a hat or a hairnet. I opted for the hat, figuring I was getting off easy. Silly me. Click here to see the horrible hat.
