Someone I work with walked into the lunchroom today, while I was eating lunch with two other people. He asked us if we'd heard that Jeff left. We all said that we hadn't. He mentioned that he had to leave, as he had been deported, back to Oregon. I thought this was strange, as I'd eaten lunch with, and ridden the train with Jeff, and mentioned that I was American, and I know that he never mentioned that he was. He also mentioned that Jeff's wife had to sell his house. He had a house here, and a wife? And he was being deported? It started to make me feel a bit uneasy. Finally he mentioned, "Oh, and it wasn't Jeff, it was Mike. He was impersonating a dead guy." Yeah. That's just weird. |
