Customer: I keep trying to connect to the internet, and it's giving me a busy signal! Me: Where are you dialing into? Customer: (reads off one of our dial up numbers) Me: Do you have two phone lines? Can you try to connect right now? Customer: Yeah. I'll try it now. Me: (I hear his modem dial a whole lot more than 7 digits.) Alright...double click on My Computer... (paraphrasing through all of the "I don't have that's" and "I can't find that's" and "Nothing happens when I do that's") Double click on Dial Up Networking. Click on Dial Properties. What boxes do you have checked in here? Customer: Oh, that's right! There was a box that said "To disable call waiting, dial:", so I just put some numbers in there. Is that right? Lisa: (staring in abject terror...speechless) Uh...no... And believe me...there is SO much more where that came from... Back to the stories. |
